Lorex Security cameras are expected to begin use by the end of this month, with a pilot program scheduled to start this summer.
The cameras are set to be installed in public spaces such as parks, schools, shopping centers and airports.
Lorex said in a statement that the Lorex Camera will provide an alternative to cameras currently on the market.
“Our Lorex cameras have been the most popular option for security cameras in the industry, with an installed capacity of 1,000,000 and counting, and they are being used in more than 2,000 public locations,” the company said.
“With the introduction of the Lorexs new security camera line, we have further expanded our range of products with more security cameras, which are currently available only in private residences.”
The Lorex camera has the same camera features as the security camera in the Tesla Model S, with the same image quality and resolution, and the same capabilities.
In order to begin installing the new cameras, the company will need to prove the effectiveness of the new technology and prove it is safer.
“We will need the approval of a regulatory body to commence public trials, but we expect to begin in June,” the statement said.
The company said that the first Lorex products will be sold to companies in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The company is also preparing to launch a “Lorexes Security Camera Plus” in Australia and the “Lorean Security Camera” in New Zealand by the third quarter of 2018.
