Read moreAt a home in New York City, a security guard called 911 to report that a man was breaking into his home with a gun, according to a police report obtained by ABC News.
When the guard entered the house and found the suspect, he said he could hear a gun going off and that it sounded like a “bump of thunder.”
The guard fired a warning shot, striking the suspect in the arm.
The suspect fled, and the guard chased him with a car and a flashlight.
He got out of the car and fired at the suspect.
The man later turned himself in and was taken into custody.
He was arrested on multiple charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and burglary.
He was also charged with possession of ammunition.
In a statement to ABC News, the security guard said he felt like he had “lost my mind” when the suspect started firing and he “just kept telling myself to shoot him again and again.”
